CLASSICAL DANCE BANJAR



Banjar dance is dance that was developed by a tribe Banjar, either in the form of classical dance (Baksa, accompanied by Gamelan Banjar) and traditional dance (Panting music accompaniment).

Types of Banjar Dance


Bagandut type of traditional dance in pairs which in the past was the highlight erotic dancers dance like a dance ronggeng tayub in Java and Sumatra. Gandut means tledek (Java).


Gandut dance was originally only played in the royal palace, new in about 1860's dance evolved into corners of the kingdom and become the preferred type of art by a group of ordinary people. This dance is played every crowd, for example marriage ceremony night, hajad, hometown fundraiser and so on.



Gandut is a unique profession in society and women are not capable of being Gandut carelessly. In addition to requirements and should be pretty good at dancing, a Gandut also required to master the martial arts and certain spells. Gandut dance as entertainment continues to grow in agricultural areas throughout the Kingdom of Banjar, with its center in the area Pandahan, District Central Tapin, Tapin district.
